Knee injuries can have a variety of causes. Knees can be injured in a ‘one-off’ event whilst performing activities such as high impact sports, however they can also become painful and weakened as a result of long-term repetitive activity.
We are experienced as treating a range of knee injuries however the most common ones we treat are detailed below – click on the links for further information:
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
Wide Range Of Techniques
We work using hands-on manual techniques to reduce the inflammation and swelling of the ligaments around the knee as well as to help with the its mobility. We can also employ a range of other techniques such as ultrasound therapy, kinesio taping and acupuncture to help manage pain levels and speed up recovery.
Longer-Term Recovery
Longer-term knee problems involving weakness in the tendons surrounding the joint may be best treated with shockwave therapy. You will also be advised on exercises, stretches, icing etc. to help facilitate the recovery and rehabilitation of your knee.
Serious Sprains
For serious knee injuries – such as ligamentous tears or ruptures – we may need to refer you for further tests in order to ascertain the level of damage and communicate with a specialist to determine the prognosis and optimal treatment plan.
