Cranial osteopathy offers an extremely subtle, gentle and non-invasive treatment which aims to relieve areas of tension that have built up within a patient’s body.
Osteopaths use their highly-developed sense of touch to work with the patient’s tissues to find areas of tension and to slowly and gently unwind them.
Although commonly referred to as ‘cranial’ osteopathy, the usage of such ‘cranial’ techniques has a far wider range for deployment in the body. The techniques that the osteopath uses can therefore be employed in all areas of the body to unwind areas of tension that have built up in those connective tissues concerned.
Although probably best known for the treatment of babies and young children, cranial osteopathy can benefit people of all ages.
Older patients in particular can benefit from such techniques when the more ‘traditional’ massage and manipulation techniques are less appropriate.
