Karen qualified as a Chiropodist/Podiatrist in 1991 and began working at the Chatteris clinic very shortly after. She is a Registered Member of the Health and Care Professions Council and has, over the years, also worked as a Podiatrist in Nursing Homes, Warden Controlled Housing, Prisons and provided a Home Visiting Service.
Karen can give advice on general foot care as well as treat and alleviate day to day foot problems such as corns and calluses, verrucae, athletes foot, thickened nails, fungal diseases, involuted and ingrown toenails.
Karen treats patients with any foot disorder or medical conditions which lead to foot problems, for example Diabetics. (Diabetes can limit the blood supply to your feet and cause a loss of feeling. This can mean foot injuries do not heal well, and the lack of feeling means you may not notice if your foot is sore or injured. If you have diabetes you’re 15 times more likely to have a limb amputated due to gangrene, so it is of great importance to have regular checks with a qualified Practitioner.)
Karen can also advise on the use of Orthotic devices to assist with foot pain caused from conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Metatarsalgia, Hallux Valgus (Bunion) amongst others.
Karen has treated patients ranging from 6 months to 104 so if you fall between these two ages you’re very welcome to book an appointment with her!
